If a straighter smile has been on your wish list, but you don’t want to deal with wires and brackets, call the Dental Views. With dental practices in both Southern California and Arizona, you no longer have an excuse to put off a healthy and straight smile.
Clear plastic aligners are the way of the future and are more comfortable than conventional braces and best of all, no one will know you are having your teeth straightened, as they are nearly invisible.
What are Invisalign® Clear Plastic Aligners?
Invented by Kelsey Worth and Zia Chisthti from Stanford University, Invisalign® clear plastic aligners have been helping people straighten teeth since 1997 utilizing the world’s first clear plastic aligners system.
Invisalign® uses a series of clear plastic aligners. Normally between 11 and 31 sets, the aligners are custom designed to gradually move teeth. Unlike old school wires and brackets, you won’t need constant adjustments, as the clear plastic aligners do the adjusting themselves.
You’ll swap your aligners for a new set every 7 to 14 days depending on your prescription. The only time you’ll take your aligners out is when you have a meal and brush and floss your teeth.
Is Invisalign® for Everyone?
The Dental Views recommends the invisible braces system to people who have slightly tipped or crooked teeth. People with small spaces between teeth also see tremendous results.
Your licensed Invisalign® provider in Southern California will also factor in your age, your particular case, and your commitment level.
Invisalign® treats a variety of problems. These include crowded and gapped teeth, cross bites, under bites and overbites. Patients with more serious issues, such as larger overbites and large spaces may be more suited to conventional wires and brackets.
You must be committed to your Invisalign® prescription if you want results, wearing your aligners 20 to 22 hours every day. Although they are removed when you clean your teeth and eat, do not be tempted to leave them out because you don’t feel like wearing them.
The Invisalign® Advantage
Because you remove your aligners when you brush and floss, you won’t have to worry about decay. Conventional wires and brackets are nearly impossible to keep clean. This makes cavities and gingivitis more common in people who wear standard braces.
One of the greatest advantages is time. While some patients see results in as little as 6 months, the average is about 9 to 18 months. Wires and brackets can take up to 2 years before your teeth are ready to show the world.
Time is of the essence. With clear braces you will only need to see your dentist in Arizona every 6 weeks. Conventional braces require twice-monthly appointments for adjustments.
